The newly announced Eee PC 901 is based on Intel's new Atom processor and we've taken it apart. The Eee PC 901 uses the Intel Atom processor (leftmost chip under a thermal pad) but pairs it with a 945G chipset and ICH7M. It appears that Atom's Poulsbo chipset isn't quite ready yet.

We also have stock pictures of the Eee PC 1000, a larger unit with a more reasonable keyboard.

Finally, at Computex 2008 ASUS is also showcasing WiMAX support on its Eee PC lineup using an external WiMAX modem.

Sticker says: "Designed for Windows XP". I wouldn't even thinking of running Vista on those. But this platform would indeed be interresting for running Linux on. Perhaps Ubuntu? Reply

I was wondering if the 901 still has 4GB soldered on the mainboard (like the 900), or does it have a 12 / 20GB removable SSD? Reply

These things are such ripoffs. Unless they below 300 they are overpriced Reply
