The X5 Aorus looks great product. Waiting for a review at Anandtech.

    it's pretty much a full desktop 980 in a laptop 0_0

Thing is you've been able to get the P35x with a GTX 980m with full memory implimentation for under $2,000 from Gigabyte for sometime now.

Why would I pay over $2,000 for 965m's in SLI? Seems silly to me.

Thinner, 3k screen option, and a full GTX 980m without any SLI issues. All still for less than $2,000. I'll pass on the Auros X5.

I await your review of these products Brett. Some kids just killed my Lenovo Y510p SKi with water and am looking to replace.

Then why did the just released Macbook 15 refresh not include these processors?

So Apple can milk the living crap out of people by releasing an updated model in x months. People and their money are soon parted.
  • benzosaurus - Saturday, June 6, 2015 - link

Actually, probably the opposite of that— they didn't want to release so close to Sky Lake, especially since broadwell and haswell are so close in performance at that wattage.

That does not make any sense. If they wanted to "milk" people they'd have to release now *and* in x months so the freaks who need to have the latest and greatest would buy twice...

Did someone spill your cereal bowl this morning?

Apple is skipping the new CPU's for a skylake refresh early next year. Intel missed the CPU availability for apple's timeline.

I like the Aorus line but they need to get rid of the stupid VGA port already because it's nearly useless and ugly.

Projectors. They keep it for Business projectors. I'd rather have it than NOT have it.

SLI Graphics is an interesting configuration for a business laptop.
  • meacupla - Wednesday, June 3, 2015 - link

There are HDMI/DP to VGA adapters.
  • royalcrown - Thursday, June 4, 2015 - link

OK, however most business projectors now come with HDMI as well. It's time to ditch that 2005 1280 x 720 projector anyhow.

How many business users are gonna use this laptop, more likely they'll have corporate crap boxes (with crusty VGA out) anyhow. IMO MSI had the right idea ditching VGA. I will 'cede the power connector location is stupid as all heck :)

lol, 720p projectors? Which world a you living in? I'd be happy if the sites I have to go to (especially in the US) had even 1024x768 projectors, the majority is still using 800x600 which severely screws up any useful presentation/demonstration. The larger the company (== more sophisticated meeting room setups) the shittier the projection system. My guess is that really good projection systems suitable for those rooms have been and still are 5 figures so companies want to use them for a while, plus the effort for wiring and then you'd have to deal with all those shitty "business" notebooks which only have VGA output...

1080p gaming died for the PC did they not get the memo - 17" 1080p hmmm
Odd specs and configurations, I like some of each spec but on every single one there's a show stopper.

"X7 Pro-SYNC is the 17.3” model which features a 1080p IPS G-SYNC display, and is powered by the Haswell Core i7-4870HQ processor and dual GTX970M GPUs in SLI"

What's the point of having G-Sync on a 1080p screen that's powered by an SLI setup? Shouldn't they be able to drive any game now or in the future at or near constant 60fps? Or is there another advantage i'm not thinking of?
  • meacupla - Wednesday, June 3, 2015 - link

    Smoother frame rates?
FPS too high compared to screen refresh rate = tearing
    V-sync on = stuttering
too much on screen = sudden dips in FPS
G-sync will smooth out all of that.
  • Spuke - Wednesday, June 3, 2015 - link

It says there are available now but I can't find them. At least not the P Series.
  • Hrel - Monday, June 8, 2015 - link

Cannot find for sale online. Would prefer to have full review first anyway.

Given that my laptop is still pretty modern, these could be the laptops I buy "discontinued" for $600 less than MSRP in 1-2 years.
